My heart feels so full today. I had a great weekend spent with teacher colleagues on Friday and my colleagues in life, my sons, on Saturday. Last night I was so deeply moved by the photos and speeches coming out of the 50th anniversary of the march to Selma, a time so symbolic of how far we’ve come and the work we still have left to do. Today feels like a holy day somehow. Like we sit at the precipice of all that could be right in the world.
Just yesterday our president launched a campaign for the Let Girls Learn, something the world will be better for with every single girl who is able to pick up a book and read it. We live in arguably the best possible time in history to be a woman. This campaign is so symbolic of how far we’ve come and the work we still have left to do.
Today, International Women’s Day, fills my Facebook feed and inbox with images and stories of strong powerful women. It inspires me to no end.
Strong Women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.
And it strikes me that this very thing is what #WeAreWildflowers is dedicated to: supporting strong women and the people who love them. The course I teach of the same name goes on powerfully as we speak. It’s such a gift to learn among these women striving to stand firmly in their own light.
Strong Women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.
I think my heart-filled morning speaks to the power intentionally surrounding ourselves with people who lift us up. If your social media feed doesn’t do that, you’re not using it for good. If your friends and family don’t do that, they are not serving you for good.
Strong Women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.
Fill your news feed and your life and your heart with people who lift you up. People who push you and inspire you and help you remember there’s nothing you can’t do.
Strong women.
May we know them.
May we be them.
May we raise them.
