Wildflowers Don’t Grow in Rows
During a particularly challenging time in my life, I kept a journal. Wildflowers Don’t Grow in Rows is that journal, shared with you so that you know you are not alone in your sometimes painful journey toward figuring out who you are and what you want to be in the world. With the plot line of a novel, this journal tells my story of striving to achieve the modern woman’s version of the American Dream–perfect family, perfect marriage, perfect house, perfect career–only to realize no amount of success mattered when it was someone else’s version of perfection that I was chasing.
I speak candidly of challenges the likes of anxiety, betrayal, and the toxicity of trying to meet everyone’s expectations except my own; my readers, even those with very different personal circumstances, resonate with an empathy that only comes when reading another’s struggle that is, in fact, universal: how to stand courageously in your own light even when it’s unpopular, for no other reason than the fact that it is right for you.
